Author Guidelines
S welcomes unsolicited articles on the forthcoming topics announced on the Home page.
Please submit your essays in MLA format. Essays in S use footnotes, which will contain all the bibliographic information (i.e. no list of Works Cited). Previously cited material should be referred to in the body of the text using either the author's name or a shortened version of the text title (in cases of multiple texts by the same author).
For single authored books use:
Jacques Lacan, The Four Fundamental Concepts of Psychoanalysis (Seminar XI), trans. Alan Sheridan (New York: Norton, 1977). Henceforth cited in the text as Four Fundamental Concepts.
For essays in edited collections use:
Dean MacCannell and Juliet Flower MacCannell, “Social Class in Postmodernity Simulacrum?” in Chris Rojek and Bryan Turner eds., Forget Baudrillard (London: Routledge 1993) 124-145.
For journal citations, use:
Lindsay Hair, “‘I Love (u)’: Badiou on Love, Logic, and Truth,” Polygraph, 17 (2005): 127-42 (p. 132).
(For online journals, include the URL in angle brackets <>).
For additional information, please see the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (6th edition) and the MLA style website.
